How to Prepare for Your Lash Session

Preparing for a lash extension appointment requires a few easy little things on your part to ensure that your experience is as comfortable and successful as possible. In this blog post, we'll outline some key tips to help you prepare for your lash extension appointment.

  1. Avoid caffeine — It's best to avoid consuming caffeine for at least a couple of hours before your session, as this can cause your eyes to twitch and make it difficult for your artist to work. If you need a pick-me-up, try drinking water or herbal tea instead!

  2. Wear minimal makeup — Make sure your eye area is mostly, if not completely clean and free of makeup. Wearing large amounts of eye makeup can take away from your lashing time, as your artist will have to spend more time cleansing your lashes for proper adhesion.

  3. Wear comfortable clothing — Lash extension appointments can take a few hours, so make sure you wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and stay still for an extended period of time. Avoid wearing anything that's too tight or restrictive, as this can make you feel uncomfortable and fidgety.

  4. Don't forget to use the restroom — Since you will be lying down for anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours, it is best to use the restroom beforehand so as to avoid getting up mid-session. Doing so may cause complications that can lead to discomfort and take time away from your session.

  5. Silence your phone — You will not be able to open your eyes when you are on the lash table, so it is highly recommended that you silence your phone to avoid distractions. (Please don't make your artist read and reply to your texts!)

  6. Bring inspo pics — Inspo pics are always welcome! Showing your lash artist the look that you're going for will give her a better understanding of how to approach your set.

  7. Communicate with your lash artist — During your appointment, make sure you communicate with your lash artist and let her know if you're experiencing any discomfort or if you have any concerns. She may be able to adjust the placement or style of your lash extensions to better suit your preferences. Also, if you'd prefer to relax (maybe even take a little snooze), don't be afraid to communicate that! Your artist won't be offended. Oftentimes, a silent session even allows for a smoother, easier lash application as the facial muscles are fully relaxed.

In summary, preparing for a lash extension appointment requires a few small things that will go a long way to make your experience optimal. By avoiding caffeine, wearing minimal makeup, wearing comfortable clothing, using the restroom, silencing your phone, bringing inspo pics, and communicating with your artist, you can enjoy the benefits of beautiful and long-lasting lash extensions.
